THE PRESIDENT: The birth of baby Jesus, and what he symbolizes for people all around the world is the possibility of peace and people treating each other with respect.  And so I just hope that spirit of giving that’s so important at Christmas, I hope all of you guys remember that as well.  You know, it’s not just about getting gifts but it’s also doing something for other people.  So being nice to your mom and dad and grandma and aunties and showing respect to people — that’s really important too, that’s part of the Christmas spirit, don’t you think?  Do you agree with me?

No, Mr. president I do not.

Let us never, ever separate the cross from the manger. Let us remember that Christmas points to the cross. Jesus Christ humbled Himself to become a man so that He could die in full obedience to the Father to demonstrate God’s love and His justice simultaneously. Christmas is also a time to rejoice knowing that death could not hold our King and that His resurrection points us to the glorious truth that at this very moment He reigns at the right hand of the Father waiting for His enemies to be made a footstool to His feet. While we look back on our Lord’s first Advent this Christmas, let us also expectantly look forward to our Lord’s Second Advent when He will come in with all the angels in fire to collect His elect from the four corners of the earth! This, my friend is the Christmas story.

2 Timothy 4:2-4 “Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

Father, you warned us. Help us to turn the tide.
